”Waiting For Superman” Trailer Is Out

waiting-for-supermanSep 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A much awaited documentary film, “Waiting for Superman” will be released on Friday. The film centers on the issue of education in America where one student is dropping out of school every 26 seconds. According to the movie trailer the is the first time that the current generation will be less educated than the previous ones. The education system in the country is undergoing a bad phase with promising students not being able to pursue their education. The film comes from the director of “An inconvenient truth”.

The film seeks to bring out the obvious reasons for the degradation of the education system and the impact it has on teachers and especially growing teens. The film shows Daisy, an L.A. fifth grader who is holding on to her dreams despite facing very unfavorable conditions. Francisco is a first grader whose mom will leave no stone unturned at giving her son a chance to have a better life. Emily is an eight grader in Silicon Valley who fears not ending up in College. Then there is Anthony, a Washington DC fifth grader who seeks a better life than that of his dad whom he lost to drug addiction and Binaca, a harlem Kindergrtner who only has a single mother but is making every effort to fight the odds.

A companion book expands the theme further by providing essays from Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, Geoffrey Canada, an educationists and Michelle Rhee, chief of the D.C. schools. Bill Gates made his appearance on the Oprah Show to talk and inspire people to do something for the education.
