January 13th, 2011 - 12:36 pm ICT by Sampurn Wire
Veteran actress and most adored star Waheeda Rehman was a bundle of delight at the launch of ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ which has a compilation of 40 of the most popular songs from her films. Waheedaji had picked some of her favorites from her films and the other songs were put in by the people who were responsible of compiling the songs. Some of the favorite songs of the charismatic legend as cited by her are ‘Jaane Kya Tune Kahi’, ‘Waqt ne kiya’ etc.
The veteran star who is still remembered for her strikingly beautiful stance and her amazing dancing abilities has won the hearts of thousands of fans and some of her movies are even today remembered as being the classics that can never ever be replicated by anyone whatsoever.
However, since rumors about her very popular movie Pyaasa, to be remade are going around (Aamir Khan has expressed his wish on making it), the veteran star expressed her views that such classics can actually never be remade with the same impact.
Nevertheless if the film is going to be made then according to the veteran star, the only two contemporary actresses who could do justice to the role of Gulabo, the prostitute who was a gem of a human being would be Sonam Kapoor or Vidya Balan.
Waheeda Rehman, even 74 is the epitome of grace and poise and she also pointed out at the launch that certain classics which were in black and white can never be remade as the colored version would steal away the actual charm that the original films had.
According to the legend films like Pyasa, Kagaz Ke Phool, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and also Sujata which had veteran star Nutan playing the protagonist can not be remade and even if the remakes would be better in color, still the charm of the classics can never be captured on camera, the way it was done in the original films.
