Vimala Raman Lands A Heroine-Centric Project

South Indian film actress Vimala Raman may be a popular face in Tamil and Malayalam cinema but she definitely has not got her due when it comes to good roles in movies. Vimala Raman has always been part of films which only require her to be present as the pretty face that romances her lead male actors. However that perception might just change this year as Vimala Raman embraces herself to be part of a Telugu project which is being touted as a heroine – oriented film. Work on the as of yet untitled project will begin shortly.
Not only will the Tollywood project see Vimala Raman in an important role for the first time in her career of four years, the Telugu film will also see the debut of Suryadevara Prabhakar as its director. In a statement to the media, Suryadevara Prabhakar describes his upcoming film as a thriller. Incidents in the thriller are put together using the staple emotions that are part of any family drama, therefore the audience will not miss out on any particular genre of cinema.
2011 is also the year of thrillers for Vimala Raman. While her ambitious Tollywood project is set to go on floors, the South Indian actress is also filming for another thriller which stars Bollywood and Hollywood actors Ashish Vidyarthi and Joshau Frederic Smith respectively. Titled Dam 999, the thriller is expected to hit theaters by the middle of April this year.
