South Indian actor Vimal got married to the love of his love in true blue filmi style. Looks like his projects in Kollywood have inspired Vimal in real life too! Vimal reportedly eloped with his girlfriend Akshaya to a temple and completed the ceremony following the Hindu rites of marriage. Vimal and Akshaya have been in love for close to one and a half years now, and marriage was always on the cards for the couple. But what surprised the fans of Vimal was the fact that he had to run away and secretly tie the knot with Akshaya.

In a statement to the media, Vimal explains that their relationship has always been an issue within the family since Akshaya is his relative. What is more, Akshaya’s parents were on the lookout for a proper groom for her. Therefore the haste in getting married at a time when his career is going great guns and he is also busy with the filming work of Ethan. The couple tied the knot at the Swamimalai Temple located in Kumbakonam on the 12th of December.

Vimal reveals how the decision to get married to one another was taken only three days before the rites were concluded at the Hindu temple. While parents were an issue, Vimal also felt that his marriage should be concluded in the month of Karthigai on the Tamil calendar which came to an end on the 14th of December.

Parents of the bride and groom must be reeling from the shock of Vimal and Akshaya’s act, but Vimal has just proved that he is the true Indian hero!
