Film: Vikalp
Director: Sachin Karande
Cast: Deepal Shaw, Nirmal Pandey, Alok Nath, Akshay Singh, Kranti Jha, Chetan Pandit, Pankaj Berry, Abhijeet Lehiri
Rating: **1/2
Vikalp, a low budget Bollywood movie has an interesting story to offer but it is the screenplay which plays spoil sport for the maximum part of the film’s running time. With an ordinary star cast, which has Kalyug girl Deepal Shaw in the lead, the film also lacks in promotional activities. Therefore, nobody would have heard about Vikalp before actually it comes on-screen. In an era when several Bollywood films shine specifically because of the effort of post production work which includes unique promotion ideas and an ensemble star cast, Vikalp clearly falls short!
Rishika Gandhi (played by Deepal Shaw) is a professional hacker who travels to Bangkok looking for a good job and a good life. Suffering a failed job and a failed relationship in India, Bangkok does offer her solace but not for long as Rishika soon enters a world that is dominated by cyber criminals including criminals. An underconfident girl from the very start of her career, it is up to Rishika Gandhi to take herself out of the trouble that she has landed in on foreign land. Will Rishika Gandhi be able to overcome the complications and save her career at the same time?
The answer lies at your nearest theater but the question is would you opt to watch Vikalp? The story is definitely interesting and Deepal Shaw delivers a wonderful performance as Rishika Gandhi. However, Vikalp will fail to draw the masses largely because of its unentertaining value!
