July 15, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Vijay’s career graph has been terribly flunking down as his past 5 films – Kuruvi, Villu, Vettaikaran, and Sura (excluding his blockbuster Pokkiri) turned to be box office disasters. Nonetheless, Ilayathalapathy is busy shooting with the stars for his upcoming release Kaval Kadhal. He feels that this film will be completely different from his previous films that were merely based on socio-commercial movies.

Indeed, Kaval Kadhal will re-establish Vijay as a chirpy-romantic chap as Siddique has crafted a poignant love story laced with non-stop comedy and unexpected twists in the second half. With plans being made by producers to release the film for Diwali, Vijay is all set to kick-start the shooting of his next film titled Velayudham. The movie launch will be held tomorrow morning at Centenary Hall of Madras University with much fanfare.

The occasion will be graced by this film’s main actors and technicians along with their spouses. Actor Vijay will be present along with his spouse Sangeetha while filmmaker Raja with Brinda, Mr and Mrs. Sridhar and editor Mohan and his wife Varalakshmi. Vijay’s parents S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba will also take part in this special event.

The film is directed by Jeyam Raja and is produced by Aascar Ravichandran. Previously, music director Harris Jayaraj was reported to have been signed for this film and now Vijay Anthony has replaced him as his previous combo with Vijay Vettaikaran was a winner at audio market.

Velayudham has Genelia D’ Souza playing the role of a journalist while hottie Hansika Motwani will be seen sharing screen space with Vijay for the first time and she takes on the role of Vijay’s cousin who is deeply in love with him.
