Nov.16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first part of the remake of the 1960’s iconic television series “The Prisoner” was screened on AMC cable network on Sunday. The debut episode of the new TV mini-series grabbed many eyeballs as this was the first time in 40 years that the classic TV series was being reinterpreted. The six part miniseries which is scheduled to be aired from Sunday to Tuesday would surely provide the audiences a taste of the original classic.
Sunday’s episode was viewed by large number of audiences to have an idea about the original series which had gained immense popularity when it was screened. at the same time, the viewers are all set to catch the upcoming episodes as the show would be screened in six hours over a period of three nights. The storyline in both old and new versions remains essentially same although the new series has adopted certain differences. The most prominent among them is that in the old classic the protagonist was a British secret agent whereas in the new adaptation the central character is much more contemporary as he is involved in consumer trends held captive in the world of global marketing.
At the same time, many people are also being critical of the fact that how can a 17 episode original series be adapted into a six hours series if all the essential components are to be incorporated in the new version to retain its original charm. However, it remains to be seen whether the new series is able to generate the same amount of popularity that the original series received.
