Aug 7 (IBNS) Victoria Beckham, wife of star footballer David Beckham and Spice Girls singer, will appear as a guest judge in one of the episodes of American Idol.

The Hollywood Reporter quoted Victoria’s spokeswoman, Cheryl Maisel, said that she will appear in one episode of the top-rated Fox show, which begins its new season in January.

Maisel, however, didn’t give further details on Beckham’s appearance. Katy Perry also is confirmed as a guest judge on the show.

The latest move from Fox comes after Paula Abdul walked out of the show and guest judge will help the network to stick to their plan of having four judges on the show.

Earlier this week, Abdul announced she was leaving “Idol” after eight seasons as a judge on the show.

The network’s entertainment chairman Peter Rice said he will look for a replacement for Abdul before live “American Idol” episodes begin airing next year. After Abdul’s abruptly announced she was quitting, many felt that the network would revert to using three judges.

But Fox will have guest judges each week during audition process, choosing female pop stars and performers to sit in for Abdul while “American Idol” tours cities seeking new contestants.
