Vic Chesnutt dies, aged 45

New York, Dec 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Singer Vic Chesnutt has died after his suicide attempt on Christmas Eve. After the suicide attempt, he was in a coma and now doctors have pronounced him dead. He was only 45 years old. Recently he was in the news as he was a victim of depression and was also financially weak. He even had a huge hospital bill to pay.

He has been in a wheel chair since he was 18 years old, due to a bad car accident. He gained name and fame when R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe discovered him. Then R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe went on to produce his 2 albums too, Little in 1990 and West of Rome in 1991.

Vic Chesnutt worked with numerous artists over a total of 13 albums, with artists including Garbage, The Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna, R.E.M. and Live covering his songs in a tribute album for charity in 1996.

Vic Chesnutt was born on November 12, 1964. He is a singer-songwriter who lived in Athens, Georgia. He has been writing lyrics for songs, since he was five years old. Injured in a car accident in 1983, the paraplegic artist’s first big breakthrough to commercial success came with the release of the tribute album Sweet Relief II: Gravity of the Situation.
