Veteran Actor Harold Gould Dies at Age 86

Sep 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Harold Gould, best known for his role as Harper’s father on Rhoda, for his part in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, in the seventies television shows, and as the con man known as ‘Kid Twist’ in the 1973 film, The Sting, has died at the age of 86 years.
His daughter in law, Leah Gould, shared the sad news with the Los Angeles Times and stated that Gould had passed away on Saturday due to complications from prostate cancer. He passed away at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Retirement Community located in Woodland Hills.
Appearing in movies such as Harper, Love and Death, Freaky Friday, and Patch Adams, Gould had a very full career both in television and movies. Some readers may remember him in the role as the love interest of Rose (played by Betty White) on The Golden Girls. He has also been seen as a guest star on Perry Mason, Soap, and Nip/Tuck.
Harold Gould was born Harold V Goldstein on December 10, 1923, and acted for almost 50 years. He appeared in over 300 television shows, and 100 stage plays, along with 20 major movies. He was nominated for an Emmy Award five times.
Gould is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lea Gould, two sons, Joshua and Lowell, and a daughter, Deborah, and five grandchildren.
