Veteran Actor Bill Erwin, Bids Last Adieu

erwinJan 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The veteran actor of Hollywood, Bill Erwin died on December 29, at the age of 96. Reports said that the cause of his death was due to age related health hazards and was natural. He was born in December 2, 1914 and is survived by his four children, eight grand children, two nephews and his sister.

The incident took place in Studio City California. He has been a very well known face on the American television and was best known for his character Sid Fields, in the popular television series, “Seinfeld”. He was even nominated for the Emmy Awards for this signature character. Coincidentally, the place where he left his last breathe was quite near to the ‘Seinfeld’ production lot. He has worked on the small screen for five decades, and has also been a very renowned stage actor in Broadways, where he performed at the Laguna Playhouse and Pasadena Playhouse, from where he even studied acting. He also made several appearances in Theater 40 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. His film “Somewhere in Time”, a romantic drama, that was released in 1980, was a huge success, and his character, Arthur the Bellman, became a cult favorite of many people in the Mackinac Island in Michigan, where the film was shot. He used to travel to Grand Hotel yearly, to commemorate the movie in the island with his fans. Bill Erwin also starred in several commercials.

Originally from Honey Grove, Texas, he left for Hollywood in 1950s, and was featured in TV shows like “I Love Lucy”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Leave it to Beaver”, “Perry Mason” and “Griffith Show”. However, his talent was not just limited to acting. He was also a very talented cartoonist, whose works were featured in reputed magazines like Playboy, New Yorker and Los Angeles magazine.
