This year’s at the Venice Film Festival only five English language movies were listed from the U.S production. As compared to last year , The U.S. and the British film nominations.The competitive and the challenging market ” Hollywood” were set a back. The competition also included Japanese animated movies and Italian movies.
This years five English movies includes “Rachel Getting Married,” starring Anne Hathaway. It is a story about a women who had spent her 10 years in the rehabilitation center and returning home for her sister’s wedding.
The other movie includes ” The Burning Plain” starring Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron ,directed and written by Guillermo Arriaga, the screenwriter of Amores perros , it is a family drama where Theron tries to retore her relationship with her parents after facing a difficulty childhood with her parents.
” The Wrestler” directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Mickey Rourke , where Mickey Rourke is the main casts and plays a character of ” Randy “Ram” Robinson” ,a retired professional wrestler from the ’80s.
As for the Japanese animated film , included “Ponyo on Cliff by the Sea” by director Hayao Miyazaki.
The unofficial prize for the longest film will be given to a Filipino director , Lav Diaz, for ” Melancholia” which runned for seven and a half hours.
