Vatican Broadsheet Pays A Heartfelt Tribute To ‘The Blues Brothers’

Blues Brothers June 22, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jake and Elwood were the endearing but luckless characters enacted by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd in the classic 1980 film, The Blues Brothers. Jake and Elwood have, at the end of the day, obtained acknowledgment from the Vatican now for their Mission from God.

The Blues Brothers managed to become a cult classic. The film generated a trend of sporting black hats and dark sunglasses to fiestas. To observe the 30th anniversary of the film last week, the Vatican broadsheet devoted an entire page and five articles to it. One of the articles has illustrated that there is a copious quantity of proof that ‘The Blues Brothers’ is indeed a Catholic film.

The Vatican has analyzed some aspects of the film. In the film, Jake is discharged from the jail. Subsequently, the devotion and perseverance by Jake and Elwood to resurrect their blues revival band is for the purpose of accumulation of cash to prevent an orphanage from being forcibly shut down. The Vatican has stated that this storyline has equivalents with the biblical narrative of the prodigal son.

In the film, Jake and Elwood declare that they are on a mission from God to gather cash to shell out a back tax bill for the orphanage. The Vatican has mentioned that Jake and Elwood and other band members are signs of salvation acquired with selflessness.

The Vatican broadsheet has also disclosed that the film is loaded with Catholic positions on ethics via the nun, Sister Mary Stigmata. She is referred to as ‘The Penguin.’ Elwood in the movie even forgoes an opportunity to spend a passionate night with a woman in order to execute the moral assignment. The broadsheet has mentioned that the film is an unforgettable one, which is attached to numerous Catholic principles.
