Sep 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Vanessa Williams is now staring in eight season of “Desperate Housewives”, which was premiered on US TV on September 26. She was already very excited about the people’s reaction regarding her new role in the show, and warned them saying “Ladies, there’s a new desperate housewife in town.” during its promotion. She will be playing the role of Renee Perry, the latest resident and neighbour of Wisteria Lane. The other two “desperate housewives” veteran, Eva Longoria and Terry Hatcher, will also be also be sharing the screen with her.

The creator of the show, Marc Cherry, was always keen on approaching Vanessa Williams for “Desperate Housewives”. However, due to her busy shooting schedule, for the show “Ugly Betty”, she could not make it into this show before. Recently, when “Ugly Betty” was taken off air, she decided to make the dreams of Marc Cherry, and her several other fans come true. Although, initially, she was quite apprehensive about the project, as she has not been watching this show since its season 2. Creator Marc Cherry says, that there was no formal discussions or any character description or no script. His slightest approach to the actress made her agree to the offer, after some initial apprehensions. Vanessa Williams says, that she had a wonderful time while shooting with the “Desperate Housewives” team. She will be playing the role of a cocky woman in the neighborhood, with slight “frenemity” with her college day’s rival in the community.

“Desperate Housewives” is considered as one of the most popular and highly rated shows, with a viewership of more than 120 million. It has received several prestigious award like Golden Globe, Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild awards. The first season of the show was premiered on October 3, 2004.
