Vanessa Redgrave’s sister Lynn dies at age 67

Lynn Redgrave New York, May 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Vanessa Redgrave’s sister Lynn Redgrave has died. She was 67 years old. Her death was confirmed by her publicist Rick Miramontez. She said that Lynn died on Sunday night at her Kent abode, surrounded by her close friends and children – Ben, Pema and Annabel.

“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time,” according to a statement by the family.

She earned critical fame when she starred in Georgy Girl, Shakespeare for My Father and Nightingale. She also got an Oscar nominations for Georgy Girl and Gods and Monsters, and Tony nominations for Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Shakespeare for My Father and The Constant Wife. She even starred on TV in the shows Ugly Betty, Law & Order and Desperate Housewives.

Lynn was fighting a battle with breast cancer. She had been diagnosed with the disease in December 2002. She underwent chemotherapy and double mastectomy in January 2003, as part of the treatment.
