Oct 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones are all ready to star in Broadway’s premiere of ‘Driving Miss Daisy’, the Pulitzer Prize winning play which was made into an Oscar winning movie in 1989, starring Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman.

The Broadway production began previews on the seventh of October and is scheduled for an official opening this Monday at the John Golden Theatre. It will go on for a sixteen week limited engagement which ends on January 29, 2011.

The story is that of Daisy Wethan, a Jewish widow who lived in Atlanta, Georgia during the 1940’s. “Miss Daisy” hires an African American driver, Hoke Colburn, after she is told she is too old to drive, and needs a chauffeur. The two of them form a unique bond and friendship which was taboo in that time period.
