Vanessa Hudgens’ ‘kick-ass’ role in ‘Sucker Punch’

London, March 19 (ANI): ‘High School Musical’ star Vanessa Hudgens has ditched her goody-goody image for her upcoming flick ‘Sucker Punch’.
Hudgens, who is just one of five super-sexy young actresses in the boys’ night out movie, has graduated to a tight leather catsuit with high-heeled boots and swapped her microphone for a gun.
Abbie Cornish, Emily Browning, Jena Malone and Jamie Chung complete the ravishing line-up.
The fantasy movie sees the quintet fighting a war as they seek to escape an asylum.
As well as the girls, the surreal film boasts fire-breathing dragons, huge robots, aliens and a First World War setting.
And the dancing gets dirty when Hudgens - playing Blondie - does a techno number in a nightclub. In a tight corset and heels, she is a million miles from HSM’s prim and proper Gabriella.
The 22-year-old relished the role and believes movies are finally striking a blow for girl power - thanks to comic book stories like Sucker Punch and Kick-Ass.
“I finished Sucker Punch in December. I’d leave work feeling amazing because I’d had a super badass fight sequence and got to shoot super big guns,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
“Other days it was because we had a super intense scene and it got crazy and emotions were flying all over the place.
“But actually they’ll say cut, you take a deep breath and you’re back to reality. It’s just amazing letting yourself go.
“I think this is my time to really step it up and get to grow up. Women are taking over. I feel like it’s something we’ve recently discovered, true woman empowerment.
“It’s a great thing. Everyone loves it. They’re watching Angelina Jolie kick ass.
“So it’s like you might as well bring some younger women into the picture and show them being super strong and fending for themselves because it’s not something that’s been done and I feel we’re just starting to touch it,” she added. (ANI)
