Sep 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With the descent of “Twilight” on all things mortal, the concept of the immortal vampires is very much in the news recently. Everything that comes in the close vicinity of the word vampire nowadays, yields gold. There is no certainly no doubt in anyone’s mind that the young Hollywood sensations like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lutner, have made the whole vampire thing fashionable on the screen once more. Not that it is a new fad. Vampire tales and Hollywood has always shared a very intimate situation since long, from the days of the 40s or even earlier. with “Twilight.” the industry has been launched in to an overdrive to get back on the vehicle once more.

One such “return of the vampire tales” is the television venture “Vampire Diaries.” It has struck an instant cord with the viewers, springing to mind the good old “Buffy” days of television. Now, on to its third episode, the series is already attracting enough and more attention of all the lovers of a good, classic vampire tale, because of its little similarity to the “Twilight” saga. Which mortal can give up a tale of love between two star crossed lovers, separated by their mortality. Adding to that is the fact existence of the power play between two immortal being, over the love of a mortal soul; and to see it onscreen, with all the effects, its double the fun.

The author of the “Vampire Diaries,” L.J Smith, doesn’t have much grievances against the little changes that has been made to her original characters in the novel. Says Smith, “I think they have done an incredible job of interpreting it, especially presenting it for a teen audience.”
