Val Kilmer To Explain Derogatory NM Comments: Claims Accusations Untrue
June 3rd, 2010 - 2:28 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJune 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Val Kilmer has announced that he will appear before a county commissioner’s board in New Mexico, in order to answer to and explain accusations which were made stating that he had made derogatory remarks about the state. The County Attorney of San Miguel County, Jesus Lopez told officials that the manager of Kilmer’s Pecos River Ranch stated that Kilmer himself will appear on June 23 to answer the claims.
In an article which was released by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003, Kilmer was quoted as saying that he lives in the “homicidal capital of the Southwest,” and that 80 percent “of the people in my county are drunk.” He vehemently denies making the statements against New Mexico.
The reason all of this is coming out not, seven years later, is that Kilmer wasn’t the county to approve a zoning permit, which would allow him to rent out three guest houses which are located on his ranch in the state. Although the zoning and planning commission of the county has approved the request, the county still wants an explanation for Kilmer’s supposed remarks.
