Urge to conquer hooks men to Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360May 27th, 2008 - 4:39 pm ICT by admin
London, May 27 (ANI): Men are more addicted to playing games like the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 than their female counterparts, because of the vital urge to conquer, says a new study.
The study indicates that standing victorious in games results in stimulating parts of the male brain linked to rewarding feelings and addiction.
Thus, men have a tendency to spend more time playing games than their wives, girlfriends and sisters.
The results came out after the US researchers wired both men and women to scanners while playing a video game where the goal was to win territory.
According to study leader Professor Allan Reiss, the results indicated that while the women understood the game, it was the men who “were a lot more motivated to succeed”.
“Most games that are really popular with males are territory and aggression-type games. And historically, the conquerors and tyrants of our species are males,” The Sun quoted Prof Reiss, of Stanford University in California , as saying. (ANI)
