New York, Mar 26 (ANI): The United Nations Security Council has said that it will consider a UN investigation into the assassination of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto only after a formal request is made by the Pakistan government.
It said that so far no request has been received from Islamabad in this regard.
“So far we have not received any request,” The Nation quoted United States Ambassador to the world body Zalmay Khalilzad as saying while responding to a question at a Pakistan Day reception in New York.
Earlier, the UN Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro, also made similar remarks when her attention was drawn to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s intention to seek UN investigation in Bhutto’s killing.
Migiro said the UN would consider it when a formal request was made by the government of Pakistan. (ANI)
