U2 to mark fall of the Berlin Wall with free gig
October 28th, 2009 - 5:16 pm ICT by ANILondon, October 28 (ANI): U2 will perform a free concert at the Brandenburg Gate to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The Irish band along with other artists, including Jay-Z and Joss Stone, will take to the stage there as part of the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 5.
“It’ll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down. Should be fun,” the Telegraph quoted U2’s manager Paul McGuinness as saying.
Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, executive producer of the ceremony, said: “We are extremely proud to be bringing U2 to Berlin for this extraordinary performance.
“This year’s awards will be remembered as the night when the world’s major music players came together against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall to celebrate music, freedom and the birth of a new age in Europe.” (ANI)
