Jan 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is true that the fans of Tyler Perry love watching his histrionics on the silver screens and his hits like “Madea Goes to Jail” and “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” are loved by them a lot. However, he loves the stage much more than movies and it is in the plays that his creative genius finds an outlet. For the last few years he was not seen on stage but 2010 is about to bring a change in his plans. This weekend his fans will get to see “Madea’s Big Happy Family” where he will act as a woman. His portrayal of Atlanta matriarch Mabel Madea Simmons would be a treat to watch. The actor himself has put in a lot of efforts after developing this character. He feels that the character of Madea can be expressed the best on stage.

Staging the play will give Tyler Perry a break from Hollywood as well. He has a tight schedule but even then would try to stage as many shows of the play as possible. 2009 has been an eventful year for him. Tyler Perry produced the TV series “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns” last year and also did a cameo in the last Star Trek film. Oprah Winfrey teamed up with him to present and sponsor the independent movie ‘Precious’.

It is true that Tyler Perry’s movies have not fared well with the Academy award in the past. However, this trend just might change with ‘Precious’. Whether the movie bags the Oscar nominations or not, the actor is pretty upbeat about his play on Medea and wants to give it his best shot.
