Baltimore, Nov 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to reports, filmmaker Tyler Perry has given away $1 million to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the civil rights organization. It is a huge donation by all sorts.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was quiet overwhelmed by the donation and it said that the gift is the largest donation from an individual in the organization’s illustrious history. It will however be distributed over four years.
Maxim Thorne, the NAACP’s senior vice president said that throughout the years, the NAACP has depended primarily on donations from foundations and middle-class supporters, but money from wealthy minorities “just hasn’t been available.”
“Already we’re starting to see a wave of excitement from our community and see this as a great sign as a young, successful black man stepping up,” Thorne said. “For entertainers and others, we’re hoping they do the same. My sense is there’s such a buzz about this that it will resonate and lead to change in our fundraising efforts.”
In a statement, Tyler Perry said that the perseverance of thousands within the NAACP helped pave the way for his success in the film industry.
NAACP leaders said that the huge donation of $1 million marks a major shift in black philanthropy. They say donations of this size have not typically gone to civil rights groups.

Tyler Perry is a racist. If you are going to donate to a worthy cause donate to one that is going to benefit those of all colors, races, ethnicities, and financial backgrounds not just to one color. The NAACP is also the most racist organization I have ever seen, it ranks right up there with the Latin American foundation. Why is it ok for those of color other than white, yes white is a color-a color which has mostly been forgotten in America today, to start a national foundation for the sole purpose of promoting their race or color over that of another but it is not politically correct for caucasians or those of white descent to do the same? Can you answer that for me?
