Tyler Perry Directed “For Colored Girls” All Set To Hit Theaters On Nov. 5

Nov 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The American director Tyler Perry has directed the film adaptation of the play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf” by Ntozake Shange. The play gave ample entertainment to the people when it debuted on stage in 1975. The movie is all set to hit the theaters on November 5 and the audience is eagerly waiting to see the film version of the famous Broadway play.
The much anticipated film stars Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose and Tessa Thompson, to name a few. The emotionally draining drama was about sensitive subjects ranging from sexuality to spirituality. The play was performed by nameless cast of seven troubled women. in of his interviews Tyler Perry said that he did not choose to make the movie but the film “chose” him. He said that previously he was asked to make the movie but he refused the offer. However, the offer came back to him again. The director said that he then faced his “fears” and started shooting for the film. He then added that he spoke with the author of the play and wrote the draft script of the movie.
“For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf” features the cast who are known by their colors in the movie. The play showed their suffering, domestic abuse, infanticide, back-alley abortions, rape and many other hardships they had gone through in their lives. Kerry Washington, one of the actresses of the movie reportedly said that she had to go through the poems and dialogs in order to get into the skin of her character.
