Two Indian wildlife films bag Panda awards
October 22nd, 2010 - 6:13 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) Two Indian wildlife films “The Pack: Episode 5″ and “The Wild Meat Trail” have bagged Panda awards at the Wildscreen film festival in Bristol.
Mysore-based duo Krupakar-Senani’s “The Pack: Episode 5″, about the secret lives of Asiatic wild dogs in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve of Southern India, won the award in the Animal Behaviour category.
While Delhi-based directors Rita Banerji and Shilpi Sharma’s “The Wild Meat Trail”, which portrays community and individual hunting practices in different parts of northeast India, bagged the award in the category to promote filmmakers from developing countries, said a press statement.
The Wildscreen film festival, held in Bristol Oct 14, showcased a melange of wildlife and environment films produced across the globe. In the 2010 festival, a total of 446 entries were received, out of which 67 were shortlisted for the final.
The awards aim to celebrate, applaud and encourage excellence, and responsibility, in wildlife and environmental filmmaking.
