‘Two and Half Men’ production halted after Charlie Sheen assails creator
February 25th, 2011 - 2:16 pm ICT by ANINew York, Feb 25 (ANI): Warner Bros. has halted the production of the top-rated CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the rest of the season following Charlie Sheen’s recent explosive tirades against the show’s creator Chuck Lorre.
“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the remainder of the season,” CBS and Warner Brothers said in a terse statement on Thursday.
The decision is certain to spark speculation that the show, which has been the biggest hit comedy of the past decade, may never return, reports the New York Times.
The show has already shut down production twice in the past two years to provide Sheen an opportunity to go into rehab.
The interviews, first with a syndicated radio host and then with the celebrity gossip website TMZ, became the latest in a long litany of egregious behaviour by Sheen.
In both, the actor assailed Lorre, calling him a ‘clown’ and a ‘charlatan’ whose ‘tin can’ of a show Sheen said he had converted into ‘pure gold’.
He also said Lorre’s real name is ‘Chaim Levine’. (Chuck Lorre was born Charles Levine; the Hebrew name is Chaim)
Sheen said Lorre was not doing ‘his job, which is to write’, and accused him of taking money away from him by cancelling several episodes of the show.
“I violently hate Chaim Levine. He’s a stupid, stupid little man,” Sheen had said in the TMZ interview. (ANI)
