TV channel CEO, filmmaker killed in Bangladesh accident
August 13th, 2011 - 7:04 pm ICT by IANSDhaka, Aug 13 (IANS) An eminent filmmaker and the chief executive of a local TV channel were killed in a road accident in Bangladesh Saturday afternoon, a media report said.
Three other people also died in the accident that took place in Ghior sub-district of Manikganj district, 63 km from Dhaka, Xinhua reported citing UNB news agency.
Witnesses said a passenger bus collided with a smaller bus carrying the victims around 12.30 p.m., leaving five people including filmmaker Tarique Masud and ATN News chief executive Ashfak Munir Mishuk dead on the spot.
According to a recent study by the Accident Research Centre of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, around 12,000 people are killed in road accidents in the country every year.
