True Blood Season 5 Premiere breaks social media record

Los Angeles, June 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The premiere of True Blood‘s season five, “Turn, Turn, Turn,” has generated over 242,000 comments on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter last Sunday night, making it one the most talked about premium cable season premiere episodes in history.

Online experts had also forecasted that True Blood would dominate conversation in social media this summer. According to figures generated by Bluefin Labs, there predictions were completely right.

The performance of True Blood’s season premiere has surpassed that of other premium cable premiere episodes of other show like Game of Thrones (58,845 comments), Dexter (23,935), Eastbound & Down (13,672) and Boardwalk Empire (13,616).

These figures also rank True Blood’s premiere as the number two all-time for most social media comments for a cable drama season premiere (after Pretty Little Liars) and the number six in history for most internet comments for any season premiere of a TV series.

Created and produced by Alan Ball, True Blood is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris.

The show tells the adventures of telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin).

True Blood first season premiere was first broadcasted on September 7, 2008.
