“Sakshi Tyagi, a student of class 11th, was hit by the truck on the Delhi-Meerut road. We have arrested the driver, and the girl’s body has been sent for autopsy,” police said.
The accident happened at 2:00 p.m. on the busy T-junction of Delhi-Meerut road. The girl was crossing the road on her cycle, when the truck hit the cycle and sped away.
Passers-by rushed the girl to a local hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Sushil Tyagi, the girl’s father, accused the Ghaziabad traffic police for being negligent.
“The drivers are completely lawless. There was no constable on the busy intersection at the time of the accident,” a distraught Tyagi said.
