The music of Strait and Swift was no different, but they still be called country. They are the genre’s hottest stars heading in Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards. The 56-year-old Strait is coupled with Brad Paisley and had 6 nominations while the 19 year old Swift had four.

Even at the age of 56, it is surprising hot Strait is. His latest single album, the cheerful “River of Love,” is poised to turn into his 57th No. 1 country single. He won his first Grammy this year for his album “Troubadour” and now he’ll be honored on Monday as the ACM’s “Artist of the Decade”. Sounds truly great!

The native Texan, who first came into the limelight back in 1981, has worked on old school honky-tonk and western swing has hardly ever strayed from it.

The writer of the song, Emiliana Torrini, for the album Troubadour, had a special story to say. She said that she wrote the song far a man she fell in love with. Although the singer had a different expectation that called for something like Leonard Cohen, but Torrini gave a different one instead. Thanks to Torrini’s discretion of selecting a different one. She decided to go for ’60s exotica-party “Jungle Drum, with her whimsical tribal beats.
