‘Tron: Legacy’ sets box-office on fire in its opening weekend

Tron: Legacy Los Angeles, Dec 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The science fiction movie, Tron: Legacy opened strongly at the weekend.

After so much hype and a budget of $170 million, the Tron managed a total of $43.6 million on its first weekend of release. The film is a product of Walt Disney and the entertainment studio revealed that the amount from the movie’s first weekend was within its expectations.

Warner Bros’ Yogi Bear though did not impress its makers. The studio revealed that they had expected much bigger than the $16.7 million that the kids’ movie managed to gross on its first weekend. The company said it believes with that the current holidays will help push the movie’s revenue up.

It did though managed to stay at the second spot of the US Box Office. The third movie for the weekend was “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” which was at the top of the Box Office last weekend. The movie grossed $12.4 million from cinemas in the United States and Canada over the weekend.

The Fighter opened at fourth position with $12.2 million in earnings. The movie which earned six Golden Globe Awards performed decently at the weekend.
