Tron Legacy: Disney Unveils Tron Sequel Title

tron-legacyComic- con 2009 saw entertainment enthusiasts being offered something to suit every palate. Lovers of sci-fi in particular were not disappointed in the very least, with Disney not failing to deliver as always, providing bits of juicy trivia for the fans of ‘Tron‘, the 1982 sci-fi flick whose eagerly awaited sequel is slotted for a 2011 release.

The much awaited sequel, which was earlier believed to be titled ‘Tron 2′ now has a new name, that was unveiled by Disney at its 3-D Panel at the Comic-con. The second part of this cinematic journey, will be called the ‘Tron Legacy’. It was also revealed that in addition to the stated fact earlier, that the film would be released in Digital Disney 3-D, it will additionally be available in Imax 3-D as well.

The official synopsis released by Disney, revealed just enough to keep the fans guessing and wanting more. The movie reportedly is a fast paced, high-tech, 3-dimensional adventure that is set against the backdrop of a digital world, creating a visual experience like that whose likes has never been seen before, as claimed by the studio.

Garrett Hedlund plays Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27 year-old son of Kevin Flynn played by Jeff Bridges, who sets out to investigate the disappearance of his father, who incidentally, happens to be trapped in a parallel virtual reality where fierce programs and cyber aggression rule the day. Aided by Olivia Wilde, who plays Kevin’s confidante, the trio set off on a decisive journey, that not just proves their mettle, but also forms the crux of this new age digital adventure that guarantees to be worth the wait.
