September 22nd, 2009 - 10:40 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt

John Travolta Bahamas, Sep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor John Travolta might take the stand against a former Bahamas senator Pleasant Bridgewater and an ambulance driver Tarino Lightborne who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from him, after his chronically ill son’s death in Bahamas.

A jury was selected for the trail on Monday and Travolta is on the list of 14 witnesses against the 2 defendants. The former Bahamas senator Bridgewater and an ambulance driver Lightborne tried to blackmail Travolta to part with the hush money else they would release a document related to the medical treatment of his gravely ill son Jett.

Chronically ill, sixteen year old Jett Travolta died on Jan 2 from a seizure at the family’s vacation home in Grand Bahamas. Jett had a history of seizures, and was under treatment for it. He was found unconscious in a bathroom. A Bahamas undertaker said the death certificate listed seizure as the cause of death.

John Travolta and his mourning wife Kelly Preston have kept a very low profile since then, as they are in deep shock, over their son’s demise.

The nine-person jury is expected to begin hearing evidence today, but prosecutors declined to say when Travolta might take the stand or whether he is already in the country, in connection with this case.
