Washington, October 28 (ANI): A Bahamian politician has issued a public apology after he provoked a judge to order a new trial in the 25 million-pound John Travolta extortion case.

While the jury was still deliberating over their decision, leader Picewell Forbes announced at a previous political rally that a defendant in the Travolta trial was found not guilty.

According to E! Online, his announcement led Senior Justice Anita Allen to declare a mistrial and order the two people accused of trying to extort money from the Hollywood actor to face a new trial, reports Us magazine.

Forbes, who may be held in contempt of court, offered his apologies in a brief press conference.

Forbes told reporters: “My statements were reckless and interfered with the course of justice in that case and were further capable of bringing disrepute to the whole administration of justice.” (ANI)
