Top Gun Sequel In The Making?

top-gunJuly 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The rumors for the remake of the 1986 classic Top Gun has often surfaced over the years but the recent statement by Jerry Bruckheimer has made the Tom Cruise fans sit up and take notice. The movie bosses are reportedly in talks with Tom Cruise who is presently nursing his wounds from the failure of ‘Knight and Day’. Jerry Bruckheimer on the other hand is fresh from the ‘Prince Of Persia’ disaster.

Jerry Bruckheimer said that he has been approached to revamp the character of Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell for a more contemporary version of the movie. He however said that nothing serious has been finalized because the aviation industry has changed a great deal over the years. An insider has revealed that the idea is to follow up on the Maverick character of Tom Cruise. He will be playing the role of an instructor at the Top Gun School who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot. Jerry Bruckheimer admitted to getting together with Don Simpson and said that even Tom Cruise participated in the discussion. However he revealed that nothing concrete has actually come out of it.

‘Top Gun’ was one of the biggest blockbuster of the 80s and crossed the $350 million mark worldwide. It was also responsible for making Tom Cruise one of the biggest stars in the years to come. ‘Top Gun’ is one of the many movies which are rumored to be coming up with the sequel/prequel/remake in the near future. The list includes Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jurassic Park’ and Ivan Reitman’s 1984 classic ‘Ghostbusters’.
