Los Angeles, July 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tom Cruise’s lawyer has threatened to sue the National Enquirer over a story which alleged that Katie Holmes had been living in a ‘house of horrors’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom’s lawyer Bert Fields has written a letter to the publishers of National Enquirer in which he said that, “Your trumpeting these false and vicious lies about Mr. Cruise will cause him hundreds of millions of dollars of professional and personal damages.”

It ought to be mentioned here that the National Enquirer had alleged in a story on the sordid divorce case between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes that she was tortured in her married life and their daughter Suri wasn’t spared either. The cover story had claimed that their gorgeous daughter stayed in a small room, bereft of any windows for more than 4 months, at one point of time, under duress.

“The cover story in the Enquirer was just so heinous that if Tom and his legal team hadn’t responded, people would have gone, there must be some truth to it, and what they did was not only put the Enquirer on notice, but they put other media outlets on notice,” according to ABC News consultant Howard Bragman.
