Memphis, Jan 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Today is the Rock and Roll legend Elvis Presley’s 75th birthday. In honor of his birthday his daughter Lisa Marie with Priscilla Presley will host a birthday celebration across the street from Graceland in Memphis and will hand out birthday cake.

The special birthday cake is huge at three feet tall and it features blue for blue suede shoes and white glitter to represent diamonds for the 75th anniversary. Besides this it also features the TCB lightning bolt, the rhinestone eagle from the Aloha from Hawaii jumpsuit and the gates of Graceland.
Apart from this Memphis will host a number of Elvis-related events, and the Memphis Grizzlies will wear blue suede shoes tonight in his honor. Elvis’ birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi, is also hosting a special birthday event.

In Australia, the Sydney railway station is full of diamante, hairspray and acrylic jumpsuits on Friday as around 400 Elvis Presley fans began their journey to a small town to celebrate their idol’s 75th birthday. In this birthday bash, more than 10,000 people are expected to join them on the six-hour Elvis Express train to Parkes, some 300 kilometers west of Sydney, for the town’s 18th annual Elvis Festival. “It’s sort of the saviour of the town really, in the drought,” a red jump suited Parkes mayor Ken Keith told AFP on board the Elvis Express.
