Nov 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Robert Downey Jr. was invited on “Today Show” on Tuesday for the promotion of his new film “Due Date”. But instead of promoting the film, most of the time he was seen commenting on his two friends namely Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen, and their sudden downfall and disgrace under the media speculation.
Commenting on Charlie Sheen, he said that he knows him since his school days and commented that he is a grown up man and should avoid arrest. Charlie Sheen was recently arrested after destructing his suite at the Plaza Hotel, under the influence of alcohol and cocaine fueled rampage. Robert Downey Jr said that he would say what ever he would say to him, and feels that only he can talk about it who has been through it and he would like to talk to Charlie Sheen regarding this issue, as they have been friends for years. On Mel Gibson, he said that Mel Gibson is a stand up guy and can do anything for their friendship, which they have been sharing for the last two decades. It was Mel Gibson who stood by Robert Downey Jr during his dark days in 1990s. He says that there is a reality behind everything, and then there is the media that creates a public opinion, which may be at times superficial. In such a case he respects their friendship by not getting involved in the public discussion created by the media hype.
“Due Date” is all set to be released on November 5, 2010 and it has already been released for the Night Visions Film Festival on October 31. It has been directed by Todd Phillips and written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland and distributed by Warner Brothers.
