Starring Will Smith in the lead role “I Am Legend” happens to be the on-screen adaptation of Richard Matheson’s novel by the same name.

The movie has Will Smith in one of his most physical roles ever as he portrays the character of Robert Neville, a virologist.

In due course of his research studies, Robert Neville discovers that he is seemingly the only one whose body is immune to a deadly virus which was targeted towards cancer cure. The storyline is set against the backdrop of Manhattan where Earth stands still in 2012 which has been called as the year of the apocalypse.

The aftermath of the virus is nightmarish as the streets of the city are inhabited by waking carnivores and zombies. Amidst all of this, Robert Neville starts working on an antidote which he thinks would help him to alter the effects of the deadly virus flowing into the human body and turning them into zombies.

He uses his own blood that is immune to help eradicate the virus from the body of the infected individuals. Robert Neville also had to combat the zombies who are hunting for his immune blood. What follows is a incubus tale of survival which sets the adrenaline level high for one and all viewers.

Upon release, “I Am Legend” became the very first non-Christmas release in US to have witnessed a record opening.

It pulled off a business of $256 million for the domestic stands and a whopping $329 million outside the country.
