Kenny Chesney and floodingMay 06 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kenny Chesney owns forty acres of land and a home on the river in Nashville, Tennessee, which is now under water, and will most likely be condemned. The flooding in the Nashville area is unbelievably devastating, which you can see in the video here. Many have lost their entire world in this tragic event, and others lost their very life. Due to the attempted bombing in New York City’s Times Square, and the tragic oil spill which is spewing into the gulf, the media coverage of the horrifying events in Tennessee have until now been placed on a back burner. Kenny Chesney is changing all that.

Kenny called into the Anderson Cooper’s 360 show last night to explain to him the extreme devastation which the Nashville area is in. After hearing the details of the flooding and how badly the people there need help, Anderson apologized to Chesney saying, “We have not focused on this to the degree that we should have. That’s no excuse. We’re gonna go down to Nashville tomorrow.” Cooper went on to say that today’s Anderson Cooper 360 will be broadcast from the Nashville area.

Chesney said that although he is able to replace what he has lost, most other people there cannot. He stated, “I’ve been here I don’t know 14, 15 years now and I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. This city is really hurting,” he said. Yet he admitted that with all he lost, he is one of the fortunate ones. “The things I lost I can replace, thank God. People have lost lives and livelihoods. We need the world’s help right now,” he said, adding that while giving money to the Red Cross is good, people need toothbrushes and so many other essentials. He also sent out Tweets asking for help for the flood victims. “TN is a mess with floods. If you’re fortunate enough to help out, hit up the mid-TN Red Cross,“he Tweeted. “Stay safe, everyone.”
