March 29, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): After Kate Gosselin, The Learning Channel is taking on another sophisticated female. TLC’s newest addition, Sarah Palin has signed a deal with the network to broadcast one season of her new show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

Sarah’s move to do a reality show might just put an end to her political career. And though this will not help her gather any respect from the GOP, she will be in the news as a celebrity. People have suspected this is what Palin was after right from the start.

Produced by Mark Burnett, the producer of shows like Survivor and The Apprentice, the show will be an eight part series which will feature the former Alaskan Governor acting as a guide.

The network has earlier done innovative reality shows. TLC will indeed have a growing audience with women like Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin on their shows. However, it will be an expensive ride for the channel. Palin will be paid $1 Million per episode.Planet Earth, Discovery’s most expensive documentary cost $2 Million per episode. However, Palin’s show is a lot more expensive as it only just covers one state.

Palin, as the host, is expected to draw a huge audience to the show and garner ratings. Most people will watch the show either because they like her or to see her make a blunder on television.
