Titanic actress Gloria Stuart dies at the age of 100 years

Sep 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Titanic actress Gloria Stuart has died. She was 100 years old. She breathed her last at her abode, which is located in West Los Angeles. Her family has confirmed her death. She was suffering from lung cancer since the last five years.

At the age of 87 years, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her brilliant performance in the box office hit movie Titanic. By securing the nomination she also became the oldest person to be ever nominated for an Oscar.

She was one of the main characters of the movie Titanic. The lead stars of the movie were Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio and she portrayed the 101 years old character of Kate Winslet aka Rose. Rose basically narrates the movie, when treasure hunters seek her help in order to look for a very valuable necklace on the ship. The movie was released in December 1997 and it managed to gross a whopping $1.8 billion.

When she learnt that she had been nominated for the prestigious Oscar’s then she was understandably ecstatic. She said that, “All these years — I’ve been waiting for this a long, long time”. However ultimately she didn’t win the award, as Kim Basinger bagged it.
