Reality show star, Tila Tequila, a 27 year old woman has accused San Diego Chargers star Shawne Merriman of trying to throttle her. She has filed charges for battery against her boyfriend who forcibly tried to restrain her when she wanted to leave his home. She reportedly put her signatures on a citizen’s warrant, when the authorities arrived at the scene of the trouble, also charging Merriman for false imprisonment. The T.V star was even hospitalized, where she was attended on for minor injuries.

Tila Tequila’s real name is Tila Nguyen and she has featured on “A Shot at love with Tila Tequila”. She has also knitted up an image of brand advertiser having featured on Girls Gone Wild magazine.

She began seeing Merriman only in July.

Once alarmed,the police showed up at 3:45 am in Poway, north of San Diego County to investigate the matter. On Sunday, the sportsman was arrested, said San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Steadman. San Diego County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, Jan Caldwell, informed sources at a news conference later, that the victim had been drinking at Merriman’s home, where the two were present in the company of a few other people.

Once the model returned back home, on Sunday evening she appreciated the concern and support of her fans,on Twitter.

General manager A.J.Smith, following the incident, in his statement made on Sunday, told sources that the Chargers would not overreact to the situation, and would see whether disciplinary action would be necessary against the player. Todd Macaluso, the legal representative of outside linebacker Merriman told sources that he would ensure that his client would not face charges by the District Atorney’s Office.
