Thousands Gather At The West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2010

rokyNov 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The streets of Los Angeles turned into one big party spot on Halloween eve with the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2010. The crowds began to gather from 6pm and at the Carnaval March headed by the members of the West Hollywood City Council was held. The event also paid tribute to the 35th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and there was also a Time Warp Dance that was aimed to break the Guinness World Record.

The organizers of the event called it the biggest Halloween celebrations in the world and the streets were full of revelers in their Halloween costumes. Also attending the event was Prince Poppycock of ‘America’s Got Talent’ fame. He was named the honorary ‘mayor’ of West Hollywood Halloween Carnival for the year. There were also some interesting performances by Momma and the Wandering Marionettes that added to the entertainment. John Heilman of West Hollywood said that this year’s West Hollywood Halloween celebrations is as unique and diverse as the city itself. The special tribute to the Rocky Horror Picture Show took place at 9:15pm and the witching hour of the event was 11pm.

The event also looked to break the world record for the Time Warp Dance which required all the 6 performance stages to be filled at once. The authorities in the area also ensured that there were no major traffic tie ups due to the event which was expecting a crowd of half a million. Roads in the Santa Monica area, La Cienega boulevards and other strategic areas were diverted or closed off to ensure that the flow of traffic was smooth and the event was not disturbed.
