1963 - Julian Lennon Born 8 April,1963 - Musician, son of John Lennon (Beatles)

1963 - 35th Academy Awards - “Lawrence of Arabia,” A Bancroft and G Peck win

1975 - 47th Academy Awards - “Godfather II,” Ellen Burstyn and Art Carney win

1994 - Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) was found dead at the age of 27. He had committed suicide three days before.

1994 – Bollywood movie, Andaz, directed by David Dhawan was released on 8 April 1994. The movie starred Anil Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in lead roles.

1998 - Tommy Lee (Pamela Anderson’s Husband) of Motley Crue was jailed (for 6 months) after breaking a probation order.

1998 - It was reported that Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) had caught on fire aboard a small boat in the islands south of Rio de Janneiro. An engine had been the cause of the fire.

1998 - George Michael was released on bail. The arrest was for engaging in lewd conduct in a park restroom.

2002 - Film star Sanjay Dutt, accused in 1993 serial blast trial, appeared before designated judge P D Kode after his return from Malaysia. The court had allowed Sanjay to visit Kuala Lampur for five days from April 3 to attend international Indian film academy awards 2002 (iifa).

2002 - Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has earned the distinction of being the first Indian actress to be on the jury of the Cannes International Film Festival, starting in France from May 14.

2005 - The Assam government has banned the new Bollywood movie Tango Charlie on the ground that it defames the tribal Bodo community.

2006 - Model turned actor John Abraham has been admitted to Leelavati Hospital in Mumbai following a motorbike accident in suburban Khar.

2006 - Saif Ali Khan gets featured on an Australian stamp. Saif bagged this honour at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where he performed. The stamp shows him in a green outfit along with other dancers.

2007 – Liz Hurley’s father-in-law is angered by her. After the Arun Nayar-Elizabeth Hurley wedding Vinod Nayar, has spoken out against what he calls “public humiliation’ of him and his wife Joanne at his son’s wedding. He has reacted with fury, disowning both his sons, saying they were complicit in his humiliation.

2007 - A male model has registered a case of assault against Bollywood director Tinu Verma, the police said. The police said Vijay Mishra, has alleged that Verma beat him and assaulted him with a beer bottle.
