1903 - Bing Crosby 1903 - Singer, according to Bing Crosby his birthday is May 2nd, his birthday is actually May 3, real name: Harry Lillis Crosby
1913 - Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, more generally known as Dada Saheb Phalke, was responsible for the production of India’s first fully indigenous silent four-reel feature film ‘Raja Harishchandra’ which heralded the birth of the Indian film industry. The film had titles in Hindi and English and was released on May 3, 1913 at the Coronation Cinematograph in Bombay.

2000 - May 3 Days after Jhumpa Lahiri won the Pulitzer Prize for her fiction Interpreter of Maladies (stories about “Bengal, Boston and Beyond”), Calcutta’s best-known Indo-Anglican writer, Amit Chaudhuri, has scooped the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for fiction, one of America’s most distinguished literary awards.
