Theron, Miller blast London restaurant for serving endangered fishJune 5th, 2009 - 2:55 pm ICT by ANI
London, June 5 (ANI): Elle Macpherson, Charlize Theron and Sienna Miller are among the celebrities who have slammed a top London restaurant for putting endangered Blue Fin Tuna on its menu.
Actors Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson, musician Sting and comedian Stephen Fry are also supporting the protest against Nobu, reports the Sun.
In a letter to the restaurant’s owner Nobu Matsuhisa, the celebrities said: “We feel strongly that Blue Fin Tuna must be completely removed from your menu as it is an extremely endangered animal.”
They said that it was a ‘tragedy’ that the creature could be extinct in as little as four years.
In the letter, the celebrities have demanded an answer from the restaurant by Monday.
Fry, 51, said: “It’s lunacy. There’s no justification for peddling extinction.”
A spokesman for Nobu was unavailable for comment.
The campaign comes as new film The End of The Line, about the species, is released next week.
