‘The White Ribbon’ wins Cannes’ Palme d’Or
May 25th, 2009 - 1:26 am ICT by IANSCannes (France), May 24 (DPA) Austrian director Michael Haneke Sunday won the Palme d’Or for best film of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival for his movie “Das Weisse Band” (The White Ribbon), a chilling story about rural Germany in the buildup to World War One.
A total of 20 films were vying for the Palme d’Or, which is one of the most prestigious awards in cinema.
