Nov. 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The premier of Wanda Sykes’s talk show left a mixed effect on the viewers. While some people like her attitude, some others think she becomes aggressive and sort of scattered. For any host of a talk show, the capacity to connect with the viewers is of paramount importance. One can not go far by whipping out controversy or pretending to be wacky. The latest episode of Wands Sykes show indicated that she still needs to relate to her audience better.
The opening of the show that focused on a spoof on Ann Coulter did not seem to be intelligent to many. In fact, after a point it started looking dumb. It is clear that if the opening lacks punch, the viewers would not be interested to see the entire show or future episodes. In the initial few minutes, Sykes went on chattering about the detractors of President Obama. Sykes’s style of dialogue delivery did not help the clever one-liners either. Her expression was wooden most of the time. She could use the wide stage but chose to stand in a place and deliver her dialogues.
However, in the next segment where she talked with her old time buddy, Keith Robinson and delved into recent humors and bits of pop culture. The jokes included in ‘Wandarama’ were of mixed quality. But this section of the show was better. The other half of the show was promising though. There were other participants who gave their inputs and that seemed enjoyable. The end of the show consisted of a round table conversation between the hosts. The show has its moments but there are other areas that could use improvement.
